About Beqa Lagoon Resort Fiji

Beqa Lagoon Resort is located on beautiful Beqa Island in Fiji. There are no roads or cars on the island. Beqa Island is 8 by 10 kilometers (5 by 6 miles) and there are 9 Fijian villages on the is- land. The most striking feature of Beqa Lagoon Resort is its seclusion. The island is skirted by stretches of sandy beach laced with mysterious tide pools.

Beqa Island is home of the Firewalkers. They perform their amazing, sacred ceremony at the resort weekly. Beqa Lagoon Resort offers the true Fijian experience with local entertainment daily. They also offer scheduled visits to the local villages on Beqa Island.

Snorkel – put on a mask and fins anytime. One of the resort’s distinctive features is that coral reef heads thrive just a few feet from the beach. Even if you do not dive, you will be able to see many wonders of Beqa Lagoon, such as clown fish, lion fish, lobsters, live corals and lots of other tropical creatures.

Accommodation:

Beqa Lagoon Resort private villas (called bures) are large and luxurious. Tucked in the coconut trees, just a few meters back from the beach, each bure is elegantly finished with rattan and

bamboo. All are decorated with colorful splashes of fabric and works of art. Every beachfront bure has its own spacious court- yard with a plunge pool and bamboo fence to ensure your pri- vacy. Honeymoon bure also has a romantic outdoor shower.

Every bure is an air condi- tioned mini-suite with a spec- tacular marble lined bath, a king poster bed and a sitting room with a double bed. Every porch has a table, lounge chairs and a wonderful view. And if you walk a few meters in towards the beach, you will find a cozy hammock to hun- ker down with your partner or a good book.

Beqa Lagoon Resort has a total of 25 deluxe bures – 12 beachfront, 6 koi pond, 3 se- cluded garden and 4, 2-

bedroom + living room units. All have air condi- tioning and safes. There are no phones or TVs in the rooms – a truly peaceful get-away.

Surfing: Frigate Passage (aka Fijian Pipeline) is approximately 30 minutes by boat from Beqa Lagoon Resort. It is a powerful, outer left reef break and recommended for experi- enced surfers only. It is consistent at 1.2-2.1 m (4- 7 feet) year round. Surfers must bring their own boards and repair kits.

Other Activities:

Kayaking, deep sea fish- ing, hiking to waterfall, picnics, massages, fresh water pool, snorkeling, volleyball, village trips, water-skiing, etc. Kayaking – grab a single or double kayak and explore the se- cluded islands and beautiful beaches. We have both single and double kayaks.

If you are into power motor sports, we can offer you water skiing or tube riding. Secluded island picnic is another way to spend your time – our boat will take you to a tiny island, where you can snorkel and bath in the sun.

Hiking – hike to a waterfall or to the top of the mountain, visit the local villages or see the WWII American gun site. Play volleyball, horse shoes or croquet and see if you can beat the locals.

Rafting on a Fijian river is another adventure you could choose. Together with famous Rivers Fiji we offer a wide selection of trips. Island hopping is another option – we’ll provide you with a boat and driver, and you are the only one who chooses the di- rection.

Diving:

Surrounded by over 190 miles of spectacular coral, Beqa Lagoon is one of the worlds largest barrier reefs. Diving these calm protected wa- ters is like ex- ploring another world. The water is clear and warm, visibility is typically over 30 meters, currents are mild, and the water temperature stays a fairly constant 80 F (26.5 C). Many of the most spectacular dive sights are only a few minutes

from shore, and if you stayed long enough, you could explore over 100 different sights! The Dive Masters at Beqa Lagoon have been diving in these waters since they were children. The local dive guides know every reef and coral head, and if you stay close they will show you some of the most intriguing crea-

tures ever. Blue ribbon eels, clown triggers, lion fish, leaf scorpi- ons, reef sharks and millions of colorful anthias and fusil- iers all abound in these wa-

ters. Some of the other underwa- ter attraction awaiting divers include two shipwrecks and an optional shark and big fish encounter. Unlimited shore diving is usually included in your dive package. Rental gear and dive courses are available.
